Basics of Estate Administration in Singapore

House building exterior

0.5 Day

Mr Patrick Tan, TEP

Introduction

Everyone needs to know how his or her estate will be administered upon their passing. This course is not about the need for an estate plan or why it is important to have a Will; rather, this course is focused on the nitty-gritty aspects of how a deceased’s estate will be administered on the ground, the process involved, and the estimated time taken to administer an estate.

What this course is about

Basics of Estate Administration in Singapore is a half-day course developed to equip the participants with basic knowledge of estate administration in Singapore and why it is so important and integral to estate planning.

In particular, we will discuss the procedures involved in applying for Court Orders such as the Grant of Probate, Grant of Letters of Administration, and Grant of Letters of Administration with Will annexed, and also what it means to reseal a foreign grant.

We will also discuss estate administration involving foreigners with assets in Singapore and why there is a need for these clients to also have estate planning done in Singapore to smoothen their estate administration process.

Lastly, we will discuss how common estate such as real estate, cash in bank, insurance policies, shares held in the CDP account, vehicles, foreign shares, jewelries, and businesses will be administered with the Court Order such as the Grant of Probate or the Grant of Letters of Administration.
